Google could be poised to upgrade the astrophotography way on its Camera app, which could heave the star-snapping capabilities of the Google Pixel five, Google Pixel 4a, and Google Pixel four.

9to5Google dug into the latest Google Pixel Tips app update, ahead of the June Pixel Characteristic Drop, and constitute some interesting lines of code that hint at a possible 'Astrotimelapse' feature. Such an upgrade could bring fourth dimension-lapse photography to people who want to snap the night heaven.

Of course, the lines of code aren't indicative of confirmed features that are definitely on their way. And in that location isn't much detail beyond the text "CameraAstrotimelapseSettingController" in the code. However, that'south yet a reasonably practiced indication that an upgraded astrophotography feature could be on its fashion to the Google Camera app.

The information is preceded by the Pixel Tips app checking to run across which version of the Google Photographic camera app is being used. 9to5Google reported the app searched to come across if users are on the version eight.2.iii of the Google Photographic camera, rather than the current viii.2.ii version, which further suggests an upgrade to the Camera app is coming.

Astrophotography mode debuted with the Pixel 4, offering a niche but interesting characteristic for getting shots of the night sky. While Google improved the low-light Night Sight on the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G, information technology quietly removed the smartphones' ability to use the astrophotography feature with their ultrawide lenses, for reasons that have yet to be made articulate.

There'south an outside chance that with this predicted upgrade, the latest Pixel phones could see astrophotography return to the ultra-broad angle cameras. But we have no strong testify this will be the example.

The Google Pixel 5a is reportedly on the manner soon, with the Google Pixel six set to follow it, so hopefully we'll see more features, not less, for the astrophotography mode as the year rolls on.
